Thanksgiving in the Philippines

Alright so I'm sorry I didn't write last week. It kinda slipped my mind. Thanksgiving on my end was pretty good. Of course we went out to work and no one celebrates it here, but we did! We had chocolate cake, pandesal (sweet rolls), cookies and cream ice cream, lechon manok (it's like rotisserie chicken), and garlic mashed potatoes. We also bought milk thinking we could have some. Turned out not to be that good. We had quite a few meetings this week and exchanges, but it was nice. Being busy is a lot better than doing nothing. I sent out letters for Christmas to everyone that wrote me. They're all individual and hand written. I'm hoping they get to you before Christmas. Alright, well I hope you guys have a great week! This week was busy with lots of meetings, me being sick, and stuff like that. However, it was a good week. We got a lot done including helping someone repair their roof. We might be doing that for a couple other people. I've realized how small my stomach has gotten since I have been training an American. I only eat about 2 meals a day, anymore I start feeling bloated. People have told me I look like I keep getting skinnier and skinnier, I don't think that's a bad thing. Randomly the other day someone said I looked like Tom Cruise. I felt a bit offended firstly because Tom Cruise is crazy, and then realized they said it because I'm white. To people here having white skin is like how having a tan is back home. SO whenever someone says "Guapo ka!" or in english "You're handsome" I replace handsome with white. Anyways, it's crazy that it's November. Pretty soon I will be at the one year mark it's kinda hard for me to believe. Anyways, I love you guys! This was a way busy week! Lots of meetings. I have a new companion named Elder Germaine. He's a really nice guy from Utah, and I'm training him in language and in all aspects of the mission. It's a bit of a daunting task, but I'll manage. A little nerve racking! I'm currently a bit ill, I woke up on Friday with a fever, stuffy nose, coughing, and headache. I'm still working through it. I take dayquil and that helps me pretty well. Hopefully it goes away pretty soon! I'm hoping Halloween was good for you guys. We had a couple other holidays here in the Philippines last week. All Souls Day and All Saints Day. It made traffic TERRIBLE, reminded me of back home in good ol' LA traffic! We had to be back in the house at  6 pm, which was nice since I was pretty sick.
